DAVID ALBRECHT Our dad and Papa peacefully passed on to his eternal home on Friday, February 2, 2001 at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank. Dad was born in Schadura, Russia, February 4, 1908, one of ten children. As a youth of 18, he made the decision to leave Russia in the face of the coming communist rule. He came to Canada and worked on farms in Manitoba and Saskatchewan before beginning to farm for himself in Oakbank. He married our mom, Elizabeth Laible, on May 2, 1933. He loved the land, was always ready to take on new challenges and farmed until his retirement in 1976. Dad served as a school trustee for many years, served on various agricultural boards and, above all, was committed to his family and church. Curling, baseball, travelling and fishing, especially with his grandchildren, brought him special enjoyment. His faith in God was his daily strength and one of the greatest legacies he left for his family. Besides a host of friends and relatives, he leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Madelin and Bill Schmitke, their children, Darla-Rae, Larissa, Lance and Shelley and great-grandson Zachry, Chad; Grace and William Elke; and Davids second wife Ida and her family; two brothers and three sisters, all of Germany. He was predeceased by his first wife Liz in 1989, and daughter Loraine in 1971. Funeral services will be held in Oakbank Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Viewing on Monday evening 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and at the church prior to the service. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and his sons-in-law, with Eric Lange as an honorary pallbearer. Flowers gratefully declined. Should friends desire, donations may be made to Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, or to the Meadowood Manor Chapel Fund in care of the Baptist Care Society, 577 St. Annes Rd., or to a charity of their choice. Sincerest thanks and appreciation to all the caring staff at Kin Place Personal Care Home and to Dr. Kowolic. "What Happy Reunions Await Us in Heaven" Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
